Lisa is an EMDRIA certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist. EMDR is used to treat trauma which can lead to PTSD, anxiety, grief, depression, and many other related issues. Trauma can be big "T" Trauma, such as rape, injury, car accident, combat, or a disaster, as well as little "t" traumas such as the ones experienced in our day to day lives where we have felt injured, betrayed, or damaged in some way by a person or event. Either type of trauma can have a lasting impact and get in the way of day to day functioning. This type of therapy combines elements of usual talk therapy with eye movements or tapping to relieve reactivity such as anxiety related to fears, trauma, negative beliefs and experiences one may have had. This can be especially helpful with people who experience fear of dental or other procedures or who have had a difficult medical experience or a poor or unexpected outcome to treatment which has caused them emotional distress. It can be helpful for performance, test, and social anxiety experiences among many others. She is listed on the EMDRIA website as a Certified EMDR Therapist which you may visit for further information at www.emdria.org.
