| Heidi
Hawkins, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in North Carolina. She provides mental
health services to a wide range of culturally diverse, adult clients. Her specialty
areas include chronic pain management, grief/loss, depression, anxiety, and marriage/couples
therapy. Her treatment approach is integrative and incorporates aspects of the
following modalities: Cognitive-Behavior,
Humanistic, Process-Experiential, and Motivational Interviewing. She
is a graduate of the doctoral program in clinical psychology at Bowling Green
State University in Ohio. While a graduate student at BGSU, she was trained to
conduct psychological evaluations, provide individual and couples psychotherapy,
and facilitate various therapy groups for individuals suffering from depression
and chronic pain. While
on internship at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Roanoke, Virginia, she
provided problem-focused assessments, treatment plan formulation, individual and
couples psychotherapy for outpatients and inpatients with emotional distress related
to physical health conditions including cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. She
also conducted smoking cessation groups, functioned as a multidisciplinary team
member of an intensive, inpatient treatment program for post-traumatic stress,
and provided consultative services to local non-profit organizations. She
enjoys conducting seminars on a variety of wellness topics. "It's an honor
to collaborate with clients to help them develop a full awareness of their strengths
and abilities." She is a member of the North Carolina Psychological Association

Dr. Hawkins has worked in a variety of treatment settings including university
counselingcenters, chronic pain management centers, inpatient hospital settings,
correctional facilities, psychiatry departments at medical colleges, non-profit
organizations, and outpatient private practice. PRESENTATIONS
She has conducted several on-site stress and anger management workshops for
staff designed to improve organizational productivity, employee well-being, and
employee health and safety. She has also conducted several psychoeducational outreach
workshops at the university level on topics including effective communication,
managing chronic pain, healthy relationships, stress management, and self-esteem.
