Yelena Gidenko, LPC, NCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and a National Certified Counselor with the National Board for Certified Counselors.  She also holds a Behavior Management Specialist Certification awarded by Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. 

She provides mental health assessments and individual counseling to children, adolescents and adults.  She is fluent in English and Russian.

EXPERIENCE

Yelena has clinical experience working in a variety of settings.  She has worked in a residential treatment facility providing counseling and treatment planning services to families, children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of diagnoses and needs.  She has also provided in-home, school based, and office based counseling and consulting services.

She is experienced in working with a broad range of disorders including Behavioral Disorders, ADHD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Borderline Traits, Depression, PTSD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, and Mental Retardation.

Her treatment approaches are developed on a case by case basis depending on the presenting problem and client needs.  Some of the approaches she utilizes most often include behavior modification, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, play therapy, and psychoeducation.
